Girls On Bikes

No prizes for guessing why this photo of Alexa Davies and Lily James caught my eye...and it's not because I like Mamma Mia!

In fact Raised by Wolves star Alexa Davies (pictured above on the left) is the only reason I'd contemplate watching Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again! or whatever it is it is called. And Lily James is a ray of sunshine in any film it seems.

Don't get me wrong, I really really adore ABBA, but when it comes to these films, I'm reminded of what Bill Bailey had to say; "It's like being hit over the head by a piece of Ikea furniture. Painful, but you have to admire the workmanship"

  1. Ah, I've been to see Mama Mia, HWGA and thought the actress on the left was familiar but couldn't place her - Thanks for that.

Yes the links (storyline?) between the songs are painful but still worth it for those great Abba songs. Yet again I shed a tear during the Dancing Queen scene.

    1. I'm tempted to say I'd recognise that beautiful bum anywhere but I'd be lying! haha

Nah its easy to not recognise her as she looks very different with the short dark hair from her roles in Raised By Wolves and Detectorists etc.

I have real problems with jukebox musicals because I feel songs are very personal to us all and, as such, their meanings are unique to each and every one of us. Having someone crowbar a story around them and trying to tell you their meaning is a bit annoying and expecting an emotional response from you for their creation can be a big ask. Still, I'm glad you enjoyed it - just not for me really.

  2. I get that - I am finding it harder and harder to find YouTube clips to include at my place for specific songs I've written about, as the images used (even in the "official video") just don't marry up with my take of the characters/story in the song. Nearly 40 years on and video obviously hasn't killed the radio stars.
