Out On Blue Six: Greg Lake, RIP

Another tragic loss was announced with the news that Greg Lake, legendary prog rock bassist and founding member of both King Crimson and Emerson, Lake and Palmer has died at the age of 69 following a protracted battle with cancer.

It's a desperately sad loss at this time for two reasons; the first being that fellow ELP bandmate Keith Emerson died just nine months ago, and the second being that, at this time of year, Greg Lake is everywhere - thanks to this wonderful anthem which he wrote with King Crimson's Peter Sinfield, warning against the loss of innocence and the commercialisation of Christmas, that has become, to Lake's admitted surprise, one of the most fondest and familiar Christmas standards since its release in 1975

RIP
