  1. From the sublime to the ridiculous Mark, Tolstoy to Partridge! I've read a fair few on your list - good to see a fellow Resnick fan (still on Radio 4 Extra btw) and I remember we did the Bottle Factory Outing as part of our Book Club; though, oddly, I've never read another Bainbridge since.

My reading list for the year just gone probably numbers no more than 20/25, and, for the first time probably, was made up of memoirs and biographies.

Take care Mark, and have a good New Year.

  2. Thanks John, the same to you and yours too - let's hope 2017 treats us all a little better than 2016 did.

I must admit up til now I've only read 3 Resnick novels (2 this year, 1 the year before) but have really got into them. I even managed to get hold of the 90s TV adaptations with Tom Wilkinson. I heard the Tom Georgeson adaptation on Radio 4 Extra, wouldn't mind hearing Philip Jackson in the role.

I had a blitz on Bainbridge whilst on holiday in the Dales this summer. If I had to recommend two novels of hers to you to seek out it would be Young Adolf and An Awfully Big Adventure. They're faultless.

I seem to be reading more biogs and non fiction books myself these days. I was always partial to them, but in the past I think fiction would often outweigh them. Changing times it would appear.
