Another sad loss to report, Robert Banks Stewart has passed away from cancer at the age of 84
A scriptwriter with the Midas touch, Banks Stewart will be best remembered for creating two excellent BBC detective dramas Shoestring and Bergerac, which launched the careers of actors Trevor Eve and John Nettles, as well as adapting HE Bates' The Darling Buds of May for ITV in the 1990s. In 1975 he created the Zygons for his Doctor Who script The Terror of the Zygons - monsters which are used in the programme to this day. He was also responsible for one of the best Doctor Who stories, The Seeds of Doom in that same year. Other credits include The Avengers, Danger Man, The Sweeney and Arthur King of the Britons.
