RIP Anthony Valentine

Sadly, Anthony Valentine has passed away at the age of 76. He had been suffering from Parkinsons and died peacefully yesterday.

Valentine enjoyed an illustrious career, with a heyday in the 60s and 70s starring in such stone cold classics as Callan and Colditz as the deadly ex public schoolboy Toby Meres and the Luftwaffe officer Major Mohn respectively. He also had the starring role in Raffles and featured as a regular guest character in Minder. His final most prominent role was a stint on Coronation Street, returning back to his Lancastrian roots, in 2009 to 2010. Valentine also appeared in films such as Hammer's To The Devil A Daughter and, returning to the Nazi uniform of Colditz, for Escape To Athena.

  1. He was always memorable (as in that bit part in PERFORMANCE) often as a villain, and had a busy career clocking up 123 credits.
