RIP David Nobbs

Another sad loss, the writer David Nobbs has passed away aged 80.

His most famous creation was that of Reginald Iolanthe Perrin who appeared in his comic novel The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin and subsequently made a successful cross-over to television with the wonderful BBC series starring Leonard Rossiter (we shall not mention the ill advised, recent Martin Clunes remake)

Hailing from Ripon, North Yorkshire and a renowned and passionate humanist, Nobbs also wrote 20 novels, scripts for That Was The Week That Was, The Frost Report, The Two Ronnies, Kenneth Williams, Frankie Howard and Ken Dodd as well as the David Jason series A Bit of a Do, Fairly Secret Army and The Life and Times of Henry Pratt
