The Lionesses Roar!

Oh my God, we did it! We beat Germany, thanks to a Fara Williams penalty! We have secured third place!

I'm not a big fan of football, but I have always enjoyed the women's game more because they play with real heart and soul and Mark Sampson's Lionesses certainly did that during this World Cup campaign, defying everyone's expectations and breaking records at every turn.

I have loved watching every minute and, whilst it's a shame they didn't get to the final and win it for us, you cannot take away from them the fact that reaching the semi-final and being awarded the bronze as the third best team in the world is a magnificent achievement.

And when we do that by beating Germany, then it's all the sweeter!

Well played girls! You put the men to shame.
