More sad news; the death of award winning actor Roger Rees at the age of 71 has been announced.
Welsh Rees first came to fame in the late 70s with a string of impressive turns at the RSC which culminated in the epic 1980 production of Dickens' The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby which earned him the Tony and the Olivier.
Rees didn't just focus on the theatre. Following a move to the States, he became a household name in the 1980s with his role as Kirstie Alley's love interest Robin Colcord in Cheers and as the British Ambassador Lord John Maybury in The West Wing. Film credits included Mel Brooks' Robin Hood: Men In Tights and Christopher Nolan's The Prestige.
He died following a short illness and is survived by his husband, playwright Rick Elice.
