Theme Time : Fiona Apple - The Affair

The Affair is currently my Must Watch US TV obsession, having come along just at the right time now both The Newsroom and Boardwalk Empire have finished.

Starring Ruth Wilson and Dominic West, it's sooooo hot its in danger of melting my TV, and sooooo steamy I have to keep the windows open! I already had something of a man crush on West thanks to The Wire, The Hour and Pride and now I'm super-crushing on the gorgeous Wilson who won the Golden Globe for Best Actress for her performance here.

The Affair explores the emotional effects of an extramarital relationship between Noah Solloway (West) and Alison Bailey (Wilson) after the two meet in the resort town of Montauk, on Long Island. Noah is a New York City schoolteacher and Williams College alumni who has had one novel published, and is struggling to write a second book. He is happily married with four children, but resents his dependence on his wealthy father-in-law. Alison is a young waitress trying to piece her life and marriage back together in the wake of the death of her child. The story of the affair is told separately, complete with distinct memory biases, from Noah's and Alison's perspectives.

This Golden Globe winning series was created by Sarah Treem and Hagai Levi and the distinctive, haunting theme tune is provided by American singer/songwriter Fiona Apple
