RIP Joe Cocker

News of yet another tragic loss has just been announced; legendary singer Joe Cocker has died aged 70 following a battle with lung cancer.

Cocker was Sheffield's finest and I have long revered him for his superlative cover of the Beatles With A Little Help From My Friends which frankly blew the Fab Four's original out of the water.

I've shared that one before (as a Theme Time post for The Wonder Years most recently) so here's a couple of other classics from a talent who will be much missed.

  1. Several of these rock hard men seem to be checking out at 70 - Joe, Cream's Jack Bruce recently, Ian McLagan of the Faces and Small Faces, who like sax player Bobby Keyes, also RIP, played with the Rolling Stones etc. I loved Joe's rock and roll circus Mad Dogs and Englishmen with marvellous Leon Russell back in the early 70s.
