The welfare state should be there for people when they cannot cope with life and need that extra bit of help. It is societies safety net. What the government are doing is taking away that safety net to abuse and punish the neediest in society.
Gill Thompson's brother David Clapson, a diabetic ex solider, died starving and destitute because he missed a meeting at his local jobcentre. He died with just £3.44 to his name, no food contents in his stomach and job applications near his body. £71.70 a week was his life line, to take it away literally ended his life, a life which saw him work for almost thirty years, serving his country and doing two tours of Northern Ireland.
