Love To Hate : Orson Welles In The Third Man

Perhaps the definitive villain you cannot help but like is Orson Welles' Harry Lime in the Carol Reed big screen adaptation of Graham Greene's novel The Third Man.

Why? Because he's so damn charismatic and enigmatic!

"You know what the fellow said – in Italy, for thirty years under the House of Borgia, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace – and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."
